Bringing the kids along grocery store shopping just got a little easier.

Giant Foods has opened up a new childcare space, The Berenstain Bears Treehouse at its Camp Hill location, 3301 Trindle Road, on Dec. 18. The treehouse is a place where parents can drop their child off while they do their grocery shopping.

In the play area, you'll find different stations themed after a different story from the popular children's book series "The Berenstain Bears," which follows the adventures of a bear family with young cubs. There's an area that's based on "The Berenstain Bears Go to the Doctor," where kids can play with toy stethoscopes and learn more about the systems of the body. Another section is all about "The Berenstain Bears Blaze a Trail," where kids can play by a teepee, participate in a variety of activities and even earn a special treehouse merit badge. There's even a section about the bears going grocery shopping where kids can pretend to shop, scan their own items and cook pretend meals.

Kids can also opt to hang out in the treehouse's reading nook, where they can munch on free fruit.

The Berenstain Bears Treehouse is geared for kids between ages two and seven. While the children play, they'll be watched by Giant employees who have passed background checks and are trained in first aid. Parents can also download the KidCheck app on their smart devices to check in their child and check out their child from the space. They can also include food allergies and other concerns, so that staff are aware of those issues.

Similar treehouses are set to be added to four more Pennsylvania Giant stores in 2020: Harrisburg (Linglestown Road), Jennersville, Royersford and Willow Grove. It'll also be added to the Martin's location in Eldersburg, Maryland.

The Berenstain Bears themselves were on hand on Dec. 18 during the grand unveiling to welcome kids to the new space, as was Mike Berenstain, one of the series authors and illustrators. Berenstain read to children and signed autographs during the event. Young kinds in attendance walked away with a free book.

The Berenstain Bears Treehouse is located at the Giant Food Store on 3301 Trindle Road in Camp Hill. You can learn more about Giant at giantfoodstores.com.
